Answer:

It is better to reduce the cost of transportation of final material than to have much expenses on the transportation of larger volume of raw material for any particular positioning of the iron industry. Again the pollution due mining area having lesser density of population could be a better place for disposing the industrial waste/pollution affecting the population at large.
