when iron filings and sulphur powder are mixed with each other then they both retain their properties that is they don't have undergone any change but when they both are heated they form iron sulphide that is FeS and loses their property because when a compound is formed it is the property of a compound that it will have a new property and not will gain the property of the elements that have combined together
