iron expand on heating because the molecule of the iron dent to spread that why in summer we see the Eiffel tower growing and inch in summer time .And iron remains the same when an cold substance come in contact with iron it come back to it original height so in winter Eiffel tower come down to it original height in winter.So we can prove that iron expands on heating and don't expand on cooling
