iron filings and sulphur powder is added in a solution when magnet brought close to it attracted iron fillings. when the same solution was heated and a magnet brought close to the solution the iron fillings didn't attract towards the magnet

It is so, because when the sulphur and iron are mixed physical they have no change in their chemical state .This is called a mixture ..

whereas if you see when this mixture heats up then they mix chemical with some fixed limits so, there chemical properties are changed . This is called a compound .
