iron is a conductor of electricity but we pick up a piece of iron resting on ground why do not we get electric shocks

Because for getting an electric shock you must be connected to a circuit

Iron is a conductor of electricity , but in this case as mentioned above the electrons don't require to pass through a medium. Thus we don't get a shock
