Explanation:

Iron is a shiny, bright white metal that is soft, malleable, ductile and strong. Its surface is usually discolored by corrosion, since it combines readily with the oxygen of the air in the presence of moisture. In absolutely dry air, it does not rust.

Iron cannot be used as a material for jewellery or replacement for human body parts because-

  • Like gold or other metals that are used for making jewellery, iron is also a lustrous or shiny metal. But, it loses its shiny appearance when it comes in contact with air or water. This is due to the oxidation of iron when it interacts with the oxygen present in air and water.
  • Rust is formed due to the oxidation of iron and the process is called rusting of iron.
