iron is this denser that water so it sinks in water. but a boat made out of iron floats in water. why?​

Answer:

As most of the space in the boat is taken up by air so it causes the overall density of boat to be lesser than that of water. Whereas, the density of the iron nail is more than that of water. Due to this the iron nail sinks while the boat floats on the surface of the water.

A ship made of iron  and steel  is a hollow object which contains a lot of air in it. Due to the presence of a lot of air in it, the average density of the ship becomes less than the density of water. Hence, a ship floats in water.

On the other hand, a piece of iron is denser than water, so it sinks in water.
