IRON RIMS ARE  MADE SLIGHTLY SMALLER THAN THE WHEELS OF CART. ON HEATING RIM EXPANDS AND  FITS THE WHEEL. COLD WATER IS THEN POURED ON RIM WHICH CONTRACTS AND FITS TIGHTLY ONTO THE WHEEL.

Heating of any matter leads to the expansion of the matter and compress on cooling.

So to fix the iron rim tightly it is first heated

that leads to expansion of the iron then it cools down in comes to its original size which fits the rim perfectly.......
