2x-5x= 1/4 + 1/2

-3x= (2+1)/4

-3x= 3/4

x= -1/4

putting the value of x in LHS

2x- 1/2

= 2(-1/4) -1/2

= -1/2-1/2

= -2/2

= -1

Now putting the value of x in RHS

= 1/4 + 5x

= 1/4 + 5(-1/4)

= 1/4 -5/4

= -4/4

= -1

= L.H.S
