India's burgeoning population, currently estimated at 1.2 billion people, is both a boon as well as a bane.
India has a high percentage of population below the age of 35, which gives it a massive advantage as an active working group; the country also has the highest English speaking population in the world, which gives it immense strength in the ever-growing IT sector.
India's widespread poverty and hunger is a result of its unchecked population growth. The other problem, as a consequence of ever-growing numbers, is joblessness.
As the problems caused by the large population far outweighs the benefits, we in India must address the issue of population growth on a war footing to be able to pass on the benefits of a thriving economy to all sections of our people.
