is 3 X + 5 Y is equal to 9 and 5 x + 3 Y is equal to 17 find the value of x + Y

So,

15x+25y=45....(3)

15x+9y = 51.....(4)

(3)-(4)

16y=-6

3x+5x-3/8=9

3x=9+15 /8

X=29/8

Now, x+y = 29/8+(-3/8)=29-3/8=26/8=13/4
