ab = 4 -------(1)

4a^2 +b^2 = 20

On adding 4ab in both sides, we get

4a^2 + b^2 + 4ab = 20 + 4ab

=> (2a)^2 + (b)^2 + 2(2a)(b) = 20 + 4×4

=> (2a+b)^2 = 20 + 16

=> (2a+b)^2 = 36

=> 2a+b = 6
