irrational is the answer
let us assume 5+2√6 is rational
5+2√6 = p/q
2√6 = p/q-5
2√6 = p-5q/q
√6 = p-5q/2q
√6 = irrational , p-5q/2q is rational
irrational ≠ rational
this is a contradiction to our assumption.
our assumption is false
hence, 5+2√6 is irrational

it is irrational because the conditions are as follows:
when rational is added to rational the answer is rational.
when rational is added to irrational the answer is irrational.....

let me tell it practically

5 + root6 -?

root6- 2.449489......

5 + 2.449489........

7.449489
