Decials

  • Decials are the partition which divide the set of observation into 10 equal parts
  • It represent a useful partition value which is widely used in the field of statistics and for data study
  • we generally have 9 decials
  • Since median is the middle most value of a distribution, fifth decial is considered to be the median.
  • Thus, for any observation the fifth decial will correspond to the median of the observation, that is the central value.
  • For a continuous frequency distribution that decial could be found out by using the standard equation given by,

D=l +  \bigg( \dfrac{iN}{10}  - cf \bigg) \dfrac{h}{f}
