Is (-6)^2 equal to - 6^2? Give reasons for your answer?

no its not equal to - 6 ^ 2 . 
 remember square of anything is positive 
- 6 ^ 2 = -6 * -6 
as multiplication we multiply signs too so - and - becomes + 
so it is incorrect

No. It’s not.

(-6)^2 = -6 × -6 = 36

-6^2 = -(6 × 6) = -36
