Answer:-

Here,

 - 1 \frac{1}{8}  =  \frac{(( - 8) \times ( - 1)) + 1}{8}  \\  =  \frac{ - 8 + 1}{8}  =  \frac{ - 7}{8}

The  \: reciprocal  \: of  \:  \frac{ - 7}{8}  =  \frac{ - 8}{7}

Therefore,8/9 can't be the reciprocal of -7/8 or -1 1/8

Hi there !!

The multiplicative inverse of a fraction a/b is b/a.

 - 1  \frac{1}{8}  =  \frac{ - 1 \times 8 + 1}{8}  \\  \\  =  \frac{ - 7}{8}

Multiplicative inverse should be -8/7

So, 8/9 will not multiplicative inverse of this number.

Thankyou :)
