G-Banding – Chromosomes are stained with giesma stains. Q-Banding – Chromosomes are stained with fluorescent dyes, quinacrine or quinacrine mustard. Q-Band staining is similar to G-banding in that the fluorescent regions represent the AT-rich regions of the chromosome.
