Tropical deciduous forests are also known as "Monsoon" forests. These forests are found in the regions which receive the annual rainfall between 200 cm and 70 cm.

Trees of this forest type shed their leaves for about six to eight weeks in dry summers. Teak is the most dominant species of the tropical deciduous forests. Other commercially important species of this forest are Bamboo, Sal, Shisham, Sandalwood, Kusum, Arjun, Khair, Mulberry, Peepal, Neem, etc.
