Is a semipermeable membrane necessary during the process of diffusion? If no, why?

semipermeable membrane doesn't require for diffusion. actually diffusion is the movement of solutions from higher concentration towards lower concentration so SPM doesn't require. but during osmosis SPM requires because osmosis is movement of solvent (not entire solution) from high concentration towards low concentration, therefore SPM requires to check the flow of solvent.

No,semipermeable membrane,is required for the process of diffusion,bcs the molecule move from the region of high concentration of any molecule to low concentration.
But, in osmosis there is only the diffusion of water molecule.,
