Acharya Balshastri Jambhekar (1812-1846)

Born: 6 January 1812 at Pombhurle in Rajapur Taluka, Ratnagiri

Joined the post of the Deputy Secretary of the Bombay Native Education Society

He became the teacher of the Prince of Akkalkot state on behalf of the Government. Then he became Assistant Professor in Elphinstone College

After that he as the Director of The Teachers Education Class.

Started 'Darpan' Newspaper

Started 'Digdarshan' Weekly

The Government appointed him as the Inspector of the Primary schools in Mumbai presidency
