Air is a mixture of gases.Because many gases combined to make air. Air does not have a fixed composition. Its composition varies from place to place. Air can be separated into its constituents such as oxygen, nitrogen etc. by fractional distillation process. It contains oxygen, nitrogen, inert gases, carbon dioxide, etc. So, it is considered as a mixture.
