Nitrogen forms at least three acidic oxides. They are (1) dinitrogen trioxide, N2O3 (2) nitrogen dioxide, NO2 and (3) nitrogen pentoxide,N2O5. N2O3 is the anhydride of nitrous acid, HNO2. ... So, it should be clear that the chemical nature of an acidic oxide is almost the same as that of the acid it forms with water.
