When α is an acute angle then (sin α + cos α) is (a) greater than 1

Given:

α is an acute angle.

To find:

The value of (sin α + cos α)

Solution:

From the data, α is an acute angle

Hence, α < 90°

Let's assume that α = 45°

Now find (sin α + cos α)

=> (sin 45° + cos 45° )

=  ( 1/√2 + 1/√2)

=  2 (1/√2)

=  √2

=  1.414

Here  1.414 > 1

Therefore,

When α is an acute angle then (sin α + cos α) is (a) greater than 1
