they are (bio)degradable.
but much slower then grease, meat, skin & hair.
It depends on the conditions too.
In dry soil or air it hardly degrades but in a compost pile with enough humidity, air, and of course micro organisms it will decompose.
Else the earth would be covered by now, with carcasses.
