Anne's opinions about Mrs. Van Daan may be a little bit to severe for the kind of mistakes Mrs. Van Daan does. This may be proved by the fact that Anne shares similar harsh opinions about her own mother in her diary entries and she is easily angered by those in the annex. She thinks that Mrs. Van Daan meddles a lot in her business, that she loves picking fights with her and that she is lazy and selfish. Anne might have this opinions of Mrs. Daan because of such instances when she makes comments about on her poor raising , always using statements like,"..if Anne was my daughter..". In another isolated instance, Mrs. Daan left the house chores to the other members of the secret annex, angering Anne and leading to feel that she is lazy. It is due to these reasons coupled up with the fact that Anne, in her adolescent years, was confined with people older her, who constantly got on her nerves, making her very irritable and probably the reason why she has such icy comments.
