Generally, anode is considered as the positive electrode of a cell.
But it solely depends on the type of the cell in which the anode is present. In a Galvanic cell the anode is negative where as while considering in an electrolytic cell the anode is considered as positive electrode of the cell.
The electrons released by the anode flows towards the positive terminal of the battery. It is the electrode which accumulates the oxidation reaction in a cell.
When anode is considered as negative it is said to provide our where is when it is considered as positive it is said to consume the power in that device.
