Reason - atoms comprises of nucleus, protons, neutrons and electrons. But we can consider a organism living thing by its characteristics for example, reproduction is character of living thing. Atoms cannot reproduce.
I love such questions and I m very interested in this. When james chadwich discovered the neutrons, he claimed that atoms are living things... After some experiments, it was claimed that atoms are non living.

I conclude that atoms ⚛ are nonliving things.... There is a myth that cells are made up of atoms... Thats a stupid believe... Cells are made of real protein- carbo substances like endoplasmic reticulum, nucleus, ribosomes and atoms have no role inside the cell... If atoms are charged inside..
