It is very insoluble in water, but is soluble in acids: 2 BaCrO4 + 2 H+ → 2 Ba2+ + Cr2O72− + H2O.

Explanation:

  • BaCrO4 is very insoluble in water, but is soluble in acids
  • 2BaCrO4 + 2 H^{+} ------- 2Ba^{2+} + Cr2O7^{2-} + H2O.
  • Barium chromate also named barium tetra oxochromate(VI) according to  IUPAC
  • It is yellow sand like powder.
  • It has the formula BaCrO4.
  • It is also known as oxidizing agent.
  • It produces a green flame when heated, a result of the barium ions.
