Actually, the discipline of Symbology was the sole creation of author Dan Brown in his books "Angels and Demons", "The da Vinci Code", "The Lost Symbol" and "Inferno". In other words, it doesn't exist in reality.
However if you are keen to learn more about it, you can opt for Iconography, Cryptography or even Art History. And, indeed, these subjects are rich and have a bright future as a career. You can be a professor, guest lecturer, researcher, historian or even a curator.
