In bismuth, a weak repulsive force is generated due to the current of orbiting electrons. Hence it is weakly repelled by the magnetic field. Even though it has 3 unpaired electrons, it is still considered as diamagnetic substance. ... Why is [Cr(NH3) 6] 3+ paramagnetic while [Ni(CN) 4] 2− is diamagnetic.
