Aerial stem modifications

Bulbil is a modification of the whole bud into a swollen multicellular structure which serves for the propagation. When the bulbil gets detached from the parent plant and fall on the ground it grows into a new plant. In Dioscorea bulbifera bulbils are modified axillary buds, whereas in Globba bulbifera, Agave americana, the flower buds get modified into bubil.
