carbon is tetravalent..which means it has valency of 4..

as atomic number of carbon is 6

thus its electronic configuration will be

- 2,4

as it requires a lot of energy to gain noble gas electronic configuration, it forms covalent bond

and it is always tetravalent as it will always have valency of 4

in case of ethene it forms double bond with formula C2H4

and in case of ethyne it forms triple bond with formula of C2H2

whereas single bond in alkane .. Ethane (C2H6)

****Benzene has molecular formula of C6H6 and has alternate single and double bond..
