Heya

Yes, Childhood is a compound word.

It's because child + hood = childhood.

Here, both child and hood are two meaningful words which make sense.

Thanks

Hi!

Your question was---Is childhood a compound word

Compound words are words joined by two other or more words which make a  new word that has a totally new meaning. Example--makeup.

The word 'makeup' comes the words make and up which forms the word 'makeup' which is a noun.

Now coming back to your question---Childhood is a compound word as the words 'child'(a noun) and 'hood'(the part of a piece of clothing that can be pulled up to cover the top and back of the head)  have been used forming the word 'childhood' which can also be used as an abstract noun.

Thank You

{Hope This Helps}
