China is not a democratic country.  (i) Only those who are members of the Chinese Communist Party or eight smaller parties allied to it are allowed to contest elections;  (ii) Before contesting elections a candidate needs the approval of the Chinese Communist Party.

Explanation:

1- For contesting election to the Chinese parliament , the candidates need the approval of the Chinese Community Party. Only the members of communist party and it's eight allies are allowed to contest the election.

2 - There is no party rule i.e., the Communist Party of China , which is not the indication of true democracy . Therefore, China cannot be said to be a true democracy .
