• It takes place due to the physical transformation of liquid phase to gaseous phase of water by evaporation and condensation and is a part of water cycle.
• The heat from the sun causes air from the earth’s surface to heat up and become light which causes it to rise above.
• Heat also causes water to evaporate into water vapor. This lighter air along with water vapor move further up because of weather and orographic factors.
• When the mass of air becomes saturated with the water molecules and cannot hold any more water vapor. The water vapor later condenses which forms tiny water or the cloud droplets.
• These smaller cloud droplets collide with each other due to various reasons and forms bigger clouds at various atmospheric levels.
