Coelenterata/Cnidaria is a phylum containing over 10,000 species of animals which are exclusively found in aquatic habitats which is mostly marine with a few exceptions like Hydra which are found in freshwater. These are organisms with very simple tissue level of organisation and are radially symmetrical. their body is surrounded by sensory tentacles which consist of tiny stinging cells known as nematocysts. Looking into their sexuality most of the organisms belonging to this phyla appear to be gonochorists/ unisexual with exceptions of few hermaphrodites.
They are capable of undergoing both sexual and asexual reproduction along with other means like budding and regeneration. sexual mode of reproduction involves a complex life cycle which includes two different phases, the sessile polyp and free swimming medussa. Due to these two unique stages, they colentrates are said to exhibit the property of polymorphism.
