Is current a scalar quantity or vector quantity?
Is current a scalar quantity or vector quantity?(If scalar, it has the direction in the circuit.)
ANSWER :
The electrical current is a scalar quantity.
A physical quantity is known as vector quantity if it has both magnitude and direction plus it should follow vector law of addition. But, the electric current is added by algebraic law of addition. So, electrical current is a scalar quantity.
If suppose two straight wires are connected to a wire .The current in 1st wire is 5A while is second wire is 4A .So,the total current flowing in the third single wire will be (5+4)A = 9A.
