Deviance is a form of bahviour which is not considered fit for the soceity.

It is behaviour that violates social norms.

Deviance is divided into two forms formal deviance which includes criminal violation of laws enforced by the state. It includes theft, rape, assault , murder.

Informal defiance is violation of informal norms of the society.

It includes, burping loudly, unnecessarily standing close to other person etc.

The form of deviance may actually vary from culture to culture and it cannot be illegal every time.

For example, in the United States, Americans there is no time-based restrictions on speech but, in the Christ Desert Monastery, there are specific rules which govern and decide when the residents cannot speak between 7:30 PM- 4:00 AM.
