a)  It is neither an element nor a compound. A diamond is composed of Carbon, which is an element. When Carbon clumps together in a patternless shaped form, and then pressure is applied, a diamond is formed.

b)  Glucose (C6H12O6) is an organic compound composed of the elements carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. It is a pure substance, not a mixture. In glucose, the elements carbon, hydrogen and oxygen are combined in a fixed ratio of 6 : 1 : 8 by mass, unlike in mixtures.

c)  Ammonia, NH3, is a chemical compound composed of one nitrogen atom and three hydrogen atoms. Ammonia is a colorless gas that is lighter than air, and can be easily liquefied. Ammonia is a compound normally encountered as a gas and has a strong odor.

d)  Ink is a mixture as it is made of many different substances.
