is distance a vector quantity. if not then why?

no..distance is a scalar quantity which means it is described only by magnitude.we don't know only about the path taken.so it's scalar quantity.

distance is a scalar quantity bacause vector depends in both magnitude and direction and distance diesnot depends on both magnitude and direwction
