Answer:

Double bond signifies pi electrons and as the definition of resonance states " it is the delocalisaton of pi electrons in a conjugated system". Hence they are necessary.

Resonance needs pi electrons as well as a conjugated system.

There are 6 types of conjugations .

yash60000: as I have kept allen booklet in front of me
jay1001: do they have H+ ions around them ?
jay1001: They must be canonical structures with anions on a some carbons or hyperconjugation structures
yash60000: a negative charge,CH2 and NO2 group
jay1001: I can give you 100% guarantee that no resonance can ever take place with out double bond
jay1001: Draw it's other structures
jay1001: You will see a double bond.
yash60000: yes I think it is canonical structure
yash60000: Thanks
jay1001: If you ever have doubts on resonance just see the booklet or check out videos on how to draw them on youtube, they explain really well
