hi..
Effective resistance is not as same Equivalent resistance .

Reasons :

1)Equivalent Resistance as per convention refers only to the pure static resistance property of a load across a potential difference.

2)Effective Resistance takes into consideration the capacitive and inductive components of a load too. So an electric motor working on alternating current draws electricity from a AC source of electricity. The electric motor is a load on the supply and can be represented by a equivalent resistance which has resistive as well as capacitive or inductive components. Also the values of the impedance it creates depends on the operational parameters of the electric motor.

Shilpakarpagam: will their formula differ?
pratik40: no
Shilpakarpagam: Oh,then will the magnitude of effective and equivalent resistance differ?

Hi..
Effective resistance means the sum of all the resistances ..
If in series direct sum ...
In parallel..sum of reciprocal.....

Here is an example ..

Hope this helps u!!
