Explanation:

In F=ma is acceleration only &in F=mg g is acceleration due to gravity. The difference is that when acceleration occurs in horizontal surface that time it is termed as acceleration [a] and when it occurs in a vertical surface that at a height that time it is termed as acceleration due to gravity [g].
