Using quadratic formula

D=b²-4ac

D=(-3)²-4(1)(-2)

D=9+8

D=17

roots = -b+√D/2a & -b-√D/2a

roots = [-(-3)+√17]/2 & [-(-3)-√17]/2

=(3+√17)/2 & (3-√17)/2
