Physical changes could be changes in the “looks" of the wire (e.g. bending, expansion, phase, glow etc..) or the changes of the element's properties (e.g. conduction\resistance, strength, elasticity etc..), while chemical changes might be in the way it interacts with other things (e.g. oxidation, electrical affinity, bonding and bond strength etc..). By the way, colorful flames (is this where this question came from?) is what we defined as a chemical change cause it's the result of the reaction between the copper and the oxygen in the air.
