Friction can be called as a "necessary evil".
Friction is both friend and foe, as it is helpful as well as dangerous.
Friction as friend:
Friction is helpful for holding objects. Without friction we cannot hold objects between our fingers. It is also helpful for driving vehicles on the road; without is there would be major accidents. Fluid friction helps birds to fly without and considerable danger. Friction also helps us to change direction while walking etc.
Friction a foe:
Friction can prove really fatal when meteors come through the earth's atmosphere and burn up, resulting in damage and destruction. Also, when rockets come from space, friction from air, if excess, can result in atmospheric self- accidents.
Hence, friction is both fair and fallacious.
