Glycogen is a polymer of glucose. It's structure similar to amylopectin where two polymeric chains of glucose of alpha 1,4 glucose unit is linked by alpha 1,6 linkage. Starch is used as food reserve in plants similarly glycogen is used as a stored reserve in muscles.
