Is Gokhale's really supported British in India ? where as his ideas were based on western thinking n he welcome British rule in India!
but he supported swadeshism? ​

Gopal Krishna Gokhale supported the rule of British in India in a more beneficial way. After the coming of British, there had been a great progress in science and technology and the thinking of people had also changed. Many superstitious beliefs had been uprooted. Gokhale supported this and he was still not sure wether Indians were capable of self-administration. He wanted to draw a pact between the British and Indians which would prevent the discrimination and assaults which the Indians were facing at the hands of British. He supported Swadeshism but wanted to promote quality of life and unity among Indians.
