Is happiness an elusive shadow expansion
Answers
Hello friend
I have sometimes thought that the pursuit of happiness is very much like the pursuit of one's own shadow. It always eludes the man who breathlessly runs after it; but if he turns away and strives for something else, it will follow close behind him.
The condition of happiness is quite as elusive as the shadow: it certainly eludes analysis, and seems to have as many definitions as it has pursuers.
Happiness is an elusive shadow for most people in today’s world.
EXPLANATION:
‘Happiness is an elusive shadow’ sounds like an epigram. In today’s rat race where people are running only after material pleasures the wealth of happiness is left far behind.
Happiness comes to a person when he is in harmony with his surroundings, his mind is at peace, his demands are few and he is contented with life. A spiritual bliss resides over him and makes him happy. But where is this kind of man? The first world countries live in a techno-driven menagerie. They have ample wealth but no mental peace. Youngsters frequently gun down each other in the fight against unhappiness.
In the third world country people are unhappy with their poverty and strive to lead a life like the first world people. In the long run they are totally desperate and depressed. Thus the whole world is running after the so called materialistic happiness and for them happiness is as virtual as an elusive shadow. Divine happiness dawned only on the Saints like the great Buddha or Christ. For others there is no true happiness.
