Is homework really useful or effective to our studies?

According to me, homework is useful for us at some extent... like if the students are given the homework of just to read the lesson and understand the whole concept of the chapter then of course it is good but if students are given the homework of only copyright then the students will just copy it without understanding it... so it depends on the type of homework that is given by teachers to the students.
